Ambassador David Friedman

It is a well-known fact that on May 14,2018 Ambassador David Friedman (on behalf of the

Trump administration) opened the new US Embassy in Jerusalem Israel.

It is a less well-known fact, that Ambassador Friedman visited Huvy’s Gallery just a few weeks earlier. During that visit he chose a very unique work of art by Huvy-(that of the Biblical Spies in the time of Joshua) to be placed on the wall in his new Embassy office.

When asked why he chose that piece he claimed: In my business I need a good story to tell.

And this piece, tells a wonderful story-of what happens to those people who choose to talk positively or negatively about the land of Israel.

All who are lucky enough to visit his office-can see the painting hanging on display.

The Spies

This picture is presently has been chosen by US Ambassador David Friedman to be on display in his new office at the brand-new US Embassy in Jerusalem. It is an Original Huvy Oil work, with Dimensions of 2M x 1.40M.

Biblical background to picture:

The Spies sent by Moses to spy on the land of Canaan return carrying a huge cluster of grapes, a pomegranate and a fig, to report on a lush and bountiful land. However, ten out of twelve of the spies warn that the inhabitants of the land are giants and warriors “more powerful than we”; only Caleb and Joshua insist that the land can be conquered, as G‑d has commanded. The respondent camp of Israel breaks out into a massive state of Weepers—and subsequently must deal with the wrath of the L-rd.

Description of Huvy’s Painting:

Huvy’s artwork depicts the return of the spies with the various fruits in their hands—except of course—Caleb and Joshua—who returned empty handed.

The picture also illustrates the Camp of Israel in the background—as the spies descend towards the camp.

The picture leaves us wondering in what light will the spies verbally paint the Land of Israel—and what will be the repercussions of their report. One cannot help but wonder how would we have reported in their stead? More importantly—what can we do today—to rectify their sin?

A Letter from Huvy

The search for the truth about our world and ourselves must be vigorously pursued. We must be as honest as we are resolute and when our search is accompanied by faith and simplicity we have no lingering doubts or paralyzing impasses, only joyous contempt. The root of all reaching and practice makes one truly alive and successful. Therefore, it is the answer to the work I do! My work is the paintings that I produce. The solution to my world (and those who appreciate my work across the globe) is to bring happiness into people’s homes. That is what people search for and I want to help them.

We have been given the gift to absorb the miracles that G-d has put into the world. There is no shame to the wonders of the world. The biggest show on earth is the wind and the clouds dancing, the sea—and all that is in it, the woods that flourish with the colors of those amazing little flowers. The trees and grass in the woods. The Birds and the animals –these all represent a mere glimpse of the amazing world that G-d created. There is no limit to G-d’s wonders. So, I paint nonstop and express my love and thanks to the Creator who has brought me and the world so much happiness. I am filled with gratitude for all the wonderful gifts he has given me. Especially the orchestra of my colorful palate—that is truly my music!! My canvas thanks both me and the L-rd that I have been blessed with the ability to cover it with my love of the work I do!!!
